Default 96 360 into 98 318 ram 1500 problem w egr

I put a 96 360 into my 318 ram 1500 and getting miss at low rpms, seems like crankcase pressure acts like a carb building up at low idle. Runs great at higher rpms and idles fine starts immediately. Can't help but think egr valve on the 96 is the problem as the 98 didn't have one. I left the egr in place and have ran it open and capped off at air line. It's showing upper and lower 02 sensor problems and miss on 8 (switched the wires and plug to 6 and miss stayed on 8) took exhaust off at the manifold went around the mile section to rule out cats. All I can find is don't put the 96 w egr into a later model but that ship has sailed and not an answer. What can I try. New during swap plugs wires crank sensor cam sensor dizzy cap rotary bug. Please help

Just get a EGR block off plate. If it's a miss I wonder if it's running to lean due to the 318 computer not dumping enough fuel. I doubt it though.

96 shouldn't have had egr either..... unless its an early build?

Did you retune the PCM for the larger engine?

I did not re-tune and is 5.2 computer but been told shouldn't matter and I've done it before didn't seem to be an issue. Capping the egr valve, I could do, but heard horror stories of crank pressure building and thought maybe just leaving it alone was a better option. Will it hurt performance just sitting there? And should I cap it where the air hose goes or leave it open?

EGR has nothing to do with crankcase pressure, that would be PCV system.

EGR: Exhaust Gas Recirculation.

PCV: Positive Crankcase Ventilation.

Took a week off frustration was about to set it on fire... Took throttle body off another 98 360 that runs like a beast sensors attached started getting tranny code tcc solenoid high voltage and multiple misfires on 2 and 8 and 02 bank one line for line on vaccum hoses from a 96 (yeah have 5 of these in the driveway that run, kinda unfair advantage) 02 sensor wasn't plugged in good from disconnecting exhaust during swap plugged it in.... No check engine light is staying but flashing and stalling. with scanner while driving checked, misfire on 8. All of it I'm down to a misfire on 8 and I didn't burn it. Lol. But it's right next to the egr valve that isn't hooked up could it be that? Or injector? Checked cable and plug and fire to it.

Needs three things to fire, Fuel, Air, and spark. Compression figures in there as well. Tried a compression test? Might be tempted to do a pressure test on the exhaust as well. Misfire on number 8 is sometimes a system of a failing cat.

Does it get more pronounced when it shifts into O/D?

Doesn't shake near as much with OD off, now showing miss on 2 and 8 again (only codes) Only been at this thing here and there lately, my dad had open heart surgery (all is well) but been dad sitting. Could it be plenum. Vaccum line? The plenum on it has an extra spot for a hose than my old one. I just capped it.
