Best Cooling fan clutch???
I'm asking which brand of cooling fan clutch others have purchased lately that worked for them.
I've had this 2001 2500 since new. The original fan would always kick in with a roar when I was towing in the mountains and really working the truck. I could always watch the temps decrease too. I replaced that fan clutch when it didn't seem to unlock and was always engaged. I've now had 2 aftermarket clutches that don't engage and roar or cool the engine when pulling a hill. I can always get around the high temps by slowing down and downshifting but I just want a fan that works.
I don't remember the brand that I have now. One came from NAPA the other from O'Reilly. They turned out to be the same brand. They could be Murray but I'm not sure. Mopar has discontinued them so getting original is out.
Thanks

Pretty sure I got a Murray a few years ago. It engages differently than the original but mine was very old. I would trust the new one. Yeah, it will engage differently but as long as it runs the first few blocks when cold then goes off, it's working properly. If you're concerned about the high temp, install a 180 stat and electric fans.
