Default Speedometer Doesn't Work!

OK so my '95 1500 Ram's speedometer stopped working! I've never faced this before, so where can I start troubleshooting it? Hopefully I don't have to tear the dash apart!

Is your check engine lamp on? If it is scan for code. You may have a bad output sensor or wires going to the sensor. I don't believe the 1995 ram trucks had a speedometer cable.

If this is a 4WD truck, check the speed sensor and wiring on the transfer case. There is also a pinion gear turning the sensor. On a 2WD truck, that speed sensor and wiring should be on the transmission extension housing. You can also download the service manual for that year truck from here (https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...e-manuals.html) and it should have a troubleshooting procedure.

no light on, and this is a 2wd 1500.

I'll check out that manual!

A loose wire/connection or sensor about to go bad? Keep an eye on it and follow the troubleshooting information in the service manual.
