Yep big pain in the *****, but im happy the thing came out now I just gotta wait for the tool to get here I have the new seal already. This one was definitely the original seal.

alright fellas so got a new problem now the $100 tool that I bought I can't use it unless I get the bushing out because there isn't enough clearance for the tool to get in. I broke a piece of the bushing off and I can't get it out. I hadn't planned on taking the diff apart how do I get the bushing off by pulling it?

For the intermediate axle shaft the bushing it rides on. The tool pushes up against the axle tube on the diff side, but these guys couldn't just make the tool like a half inch shorter for some reason it wouldn't hurt to push the seal in while the tool is up against the bushing. They don't make it so that I can do that though.

I am having a hard time visualizing what happened.

In any event, the bushing should just pull out.... Maybe not easily though.

You can tell I tried heating it up that was after it broke. Thought that would help for some reason lol. The bushing is making it so that the threads on the tool don't have enough room to go in far enough so I can get the notch thats on the top to click into the seal side that presses it in

For those, I have a fitting the screws onto the end of my slide hammer. Look a lot like the 'bolt' part of a toggle bolt. Stick it thru, the toggle expands as much as it can, then just a couple whacks of the slide, and it pops right out.

Worst case, melt that feller till it just falls out.

I got it I beat the crap out of it I was just worried about pieces going into the axle tube behind it, but I looked through the opening by the spindle I dont see any pieces on the far side. Gonna change the gear oil anyways.

Sure won't hurt.
