Default Ram 1500 1999 auto - 2001 manual t-case swap help

Hi guys,
I have 2001 1500 5.2 v8 mag 4x4
Just bought a beater 1999 that's pretty much identical to my 2001 except its automatic.
My t-case has gone and I was hoping to replace it with the t-case from the 1999.
I checked the assembly number and they almost match. The 1999 is 5210 5021a
My 2001 is 5210 5022a
I read that there is possibly a spline count difference between auto and manual so would that be what the different numbers are?
And if that's the case could I just also take the driveshaft off and install it in the 2001?
Thanks for any help.

If I remember correctly they will bolt up the spine count is different only by 1 is they count the partt with no splines. You had 29 and 30 splines, if memory serves.

That's a good question I'm not sure.. I haven't pulled anything off yet. Didn't want to get too deep into it and realize it won't work.

I had thought they were all 23 spline inputs, only difference being the diesel, and V-10 had a larger output shaft on the trans... but, I can't swear to that. Also, rumor has it, the input hub for manual trans t-cases was a bit deeper. If you are relatively handy, you could just swap parts around to get a working t-case.

Hmm yeah I guess the only way to really know is to pull them out and compare.
I definitely want to give it a shot if it's possible. The only problem being my 2001 is my daily driver so I'll have to designate a weekend to try.
Thanks for the feedback I appreciate it!
