Default R.I.P. Ol'blackie 2003-2005

Well guys, I had to watch my truck drive away with its new owner just now. It was harder than I thought. I never knew I could get so attached to my truck. I keep telling them what the truck needed and looked good. I was sad to see it go but I guess it was just time. Now I'm gonna start looking at a getting another truck. The off-road is still on my list but I'm getting kinda shakey about it. I let ya'll know what happens. -Tyler

Why are you getting shakey about the off road? From what I read it seemed like you thought the off road was a good deal.

I do but the guy is kinda giving me the shaft on the deal. Its a great price but there a number of expensive things it needs. The tires are bald, and the tailgate is dented bad to the point of rust. And when I drove it the power seat was screwed up. I just think he should at least put some tires on the truck and fix the seat. But he won't, thats why i'm kinda shakey about it.

If you have the cash to buy it, I would go in with the amount you want to spend after taking away the cost you will have to put out to fix the issues and give the guy a take it or leave it offer. I have found cash can help people change their opinions very quickly. When I went to buy my truck, they were asking $15,000. I gave them a wad of $11,000 and told them take it or leave it. An hour later I was driving home in the truck. It can't hurt to try.

If the guy really needs the money for the bills then he should take the offer IMO. But if you don't have the time to get all the things fixed and the money then keep looking.

The offroad seems cheap that may be why he wont fix them but I do think he should put new tires on it atleast if not also fix the power seat.

He is selling it for his pay-off, which means he is not making a dime off of it. Or at least thats what he tells me. I have the money for the truck I just don't want to have to spend all that money on tires, tailgate, and fixing the chair. So I don't know, I'm going to do some looking around to see what I can find.

Does this mean you have no truck now? I agree with MGDMike, if the guy really needs the money, then he will probably accept a reasonable offer.

Well, I still have my ford ranger that I inheirted but I'm not gonna keep it for myself. The guy won't budge an penny off the price and he won't fix the seat or get some tires for the truck. The tires look like they will be showing some steel tread in about 1-2k miles, trust me they are shot. the tailgate would be an expensive fix also, I know because I had to replace mine a couple years ago and it ran me about 700 bucks. Its a mechanically sound truck but this guy doesn't want to help me out any. I'm keeping my eyes peeled for a truck. I'm gonna look for one the rest of the week and hopefully find one before long. I don't want to get into a rush and get burned. I'm just going to drive the ranger for a little while until I find the truck I want. -tyler
