Default Rear brakes locked up after hitting bump

I want to buy a 1998 Dodge ram 2500 but there's a problem. The current owner was towing another vehicle and hit a bump so hard that the rear brakes locked up. He got the truck towed home and has not moved the truck since.

What might be the problem and how could I fix it.

Pull the rear drums, and see what's up.

Are you sure its the BRAKES that are locked up, and not a grenaded rear diff?

I don't think I've ever seen brakes lock up from a hard bump. The design just doesn't work that way. Like HeyYou said, it could be a locked up rear end or something broke loose in the bump and jammed the drive shaft.

Sounds like a spring broke or pin pulled through in turn wedging shoes in drum
