2nd gen. 5.2l ram 1500 - no start - need some help!
Some fresh off the presses info.
it does show signs of wanting to start when the fuel pressure relay is removed. This reinforcing the fact of fouling the plains and dumping too much fuel.
still no codes and interestingly enough I elected to remove one of the time as well as both O2 sensors and attempt to start. Seem to make no difference at all but I was kind of expecting a code to come up. But no. I mentioned before the map sensor has been already replaced. Now the question is officially what could be making it done too much fuel?

PCM ignores O2 sensor until the sensor is up to temp.
Try stomping the gas pedal to the floor, and holding it there while cranking.
Something else you might consider, is purging the fuel lines, make sure they aren't full of water. Water doesn't burn well.

anyway, the above was completed but no still no luck.
I also removed the ASM relay (as I read somewhere) cranked for about 10 seconds. Than reinstalled the ASM relay and attempted to start. Surprisingly, it showed signs of wanting to start.
I have some noid lights on order but have not received yet. In the meantime, I used a generic power tester on one of the injectors and did show signs of a voltage signal (approx 9.5 volts, but again an I expensive power tested).
I also removed and inspected the fuse block and wiring near PSM but found no visible issues.
I removed and inspected two more random spark plugs for spark, wetness and compression. Compression and spark is good. There was also no excess wetness if any.
the fuel pressure is still 47-48psi on rail with key on and fluctuates during cranking and ends on roughly the same 47psi. I have used the same fuel from the tank and used in another vehicle with no issues. Just for the heck of it cause it seems like a fuel issue I had a second person pound on the fuel tank pump during cranking…no dice.
I've looked for bad ground cables, wires failing or melted on and could nothing.
I have confirmed Number 1 cylinder TDC and distributor in time with “1”.
still no engine codes.
I have searched through many “online” examples for no start and found a number of owners with similar issues (though must with out spark). Yet still no resolution. This issue has been very trying on patients. I do appreciate everyone who has taken the time assist in keeping me grounded.
still looking for a Xmas miracle.
starting fluid down the throttle body does not appear help at all.
Once I confirm injector pulse 100% I’m thinking I’m going to look further with catalytic converter troubleshooting.
Well hear is the answer!!!!!!
The Catalytic converter was preventing it from starting! I overall ignored troubleshooting the cat due to the flow I was getting out the tail pipe. I felt it was enough to run or run poorly unless floored. I also think ignoring the cat troubleshooting allowed me to take others down my rabbit hole.
I guess never ignore your initial gut feeling. I’m hoping this thread may help others in this similar situation. A truck with 38,000 miles on it and a failing Plenum, what it can do. I want to thank each and everyone who took the time to respond.
however, this does bring up another question
has anyone ever had any success unclogging a cat?

Or, hollow it out, and call it a day.
