Default head light relay issue

just tried to install headlight relays and im having issues. after installing when i insert 15a fuses into the fuse holders on pin 30 on the relays the headlamps turn on without turning on the lights at the headlight switch. and when i pull the **** to turn on the head lights the head lights turn off.. do i have some wires switched? ive looked over this and i cant seem to figure out what i might have done wrong.. pin 86 on relay get power from low and high beam on the original wire harness on the driver side. pin 87 and 87a go to the new headlight connector for power to low/high. and pin 85 gets the ground wire from the original harness. pin 30 is the fused relay power from battery. and the last remaining wire on the new head light connector is chassis ground.. is this correct?

Default Connector

What does this connector go to? It comes from the passenger side headlight wiring harness. It looks like the wires may have broken off or it broke off of something..

What relay harness did you get? What year is your truck?

On every relay harness I have installed, you don't put fuses into the relay sockets in the PDC......

I followed the diy headlight relay tutorial and tried to make my own harness. I have a 1998 year model.

I added fuse holders to the wire that goes to pin 30 on the relays. The wire that gets power from battery.

I can't seem to load the diagram in the write up. Does anyone have a wiring diagram?
I don't even see a diagram! A diagram is needed more that a "write up" That way you can see what goes where.

I just bought the heavy duty harness from LMC truck. It was pretty much plug and play. Took me all of 10 minutes to install it.

I would need to see how it is actually wired to figger out why it isn't working the way you like.

So apparently I had wired both pin 87 and 87a thinking that 87a was just a copy of 87 but the way the relay works is 87a always gets power and when pin 86 gets power from the switch it connects the circuit to pin 87. So I wired both wires left light and right light to 87 and it turns on when the headlight switch is activated. Now I have a issue with the high beams.. when the switch for high beam is activated only the left side high beam turns on. I’ll try to retrace the wiring today and see if I have something wired wrong.
