Default 99 46re won’t move

So I have a 99 1500 automatic, I have had nearly non stop transmission problems. This is the 2nd one I’ve had and the truck is on at least it’s 3rd one. I don’t know why it keeps eating up trannys but it does. Regardless, the truck had been driving find with a few rough shifts here and there and a constant TCC lockup engine code. It has a brand new torque converter so I’ve been thinking it’s the lock up solenoid and OD solenoid because sometimes the trans turns off OD on its own and throws the trans temp light on. It already had a governer pressure sensor and solenoid or whatever it’s called, as well as a new filter and oil less than 3000 miles ago. Last night I was getting ready to drive home after having issues with pickup all day and had no lock up at all, it’s like I’m in neutral in every heat but park. It wouldn’t shift out of first at all, even if I forced the gear with the selector. There was so much wrong last night I don’t know where to start and just need some help diagnosing. I know that’s a lot but a lot has happened in the year I’ve had this truck.

Eating up transmissions is odd and shouldn't happen. Unplug the 8 pin connector under the truck. You will lose all automatic functions you'll have to start at 1 and shift when you feel necessary. Report back what it does.

just to clarify the 8 pin connector is the one for the lock up, Od, and governor pressure, correct?

It is for everything yes. It's right behind the shift linkage (towards rear of the truck) and is in top and is a circle.

so I unplugged that plug and drove it, truck actually shifted normally in drive, it drove nearly perfectly except one weird behavior where it seems to drive like a CVT in holding one RPM. But other than that behavior it drove great

It would shift when you told it to? You have an electrical problem, not mechanical. Usually it's the governor pressure sensor. You said you replaced it though. Was it for the right year? When you say it acts like a CVT do you mean it shifts at a higher RPM? If so that's the TV cable that needs adjusted. Thank HeyYou for this trick I learned it from him . He is a very knowledgeable guy on this forum and actually taught me about the 2nd gens

I manually shifted first to second and it responded accordingly, I got the governor pressure sensor and solenoid for a 99 transmission which is not what it is but I took the wiring from my old trans. Old issue I solved. When I say CVT I mean it rev hangs at 2000 rpm but keeps accelerating. TV cable has been adjusted and for probably a month it has shifted right where I want it too. This issue normally feels like the truck is in neutral or I’m holding the clutch in, but obviously it’s automatic so no clutch

You mentioned that the transmission is a 1999 model. I may have missed it, but what year, model and engine is your truck?

I had a similar issue that HeyYou discovered a while back with my '96 46RE transmission. The rebuilder put the later model governor setup in the transmission, which caused the OD off light to come on along with the transmission temperature light after about 5 - 10 minutes of driving. He came out and replaced it with the correct setup, which solved that issue. I also had a problem with my TV cable. Even though it was adjusted correctly, it was the original TV cable to the truck and it would bind up from time to time and caused shifting issues. I ended up replacing it and have now solved all of my shifting issues.

so that’s an issue I already had to solve. I bought what I was told was a 99, my truck is a 99 but the trans was actually a 2000, I put all the right governor hardware for a 99 trans. So that shouldn’t be the issue.
