Default Broken camshaft sensor

So I put in a new camshaft sensor and I obviously somehow messed up the spacing. Do I need to find the broken plastic part before I try to start the engine again?

Let me guess, V-10? Yep, gotta index the sensor properly, or the engine eats it. And yes, you DO want to find the rest of it....

That should work. If it isn't all in the pan yet, should be able to scare it out relatively easily.

If it's made it to the oil pan I'd ignore it??? Seems like it'd be more danger anywhere else?

But I'm just speculating...

I guess I'm used to modular Fords that are happy to run with TONS of timing chain guide plastic pieces in the oil pan....and even in the oil pump pickup....which kinda defies logic....but hey so does **** up between bites....wait, did I type that out loud?????

Ya after talking to a couple of people this seems to be the way forward. @HeyYou looks like you have a v10 as well? Were there other 8 liters besides the v10?

The viper engine. But, it started as an 8 liter as well. There are similarities between the truck, and viper motor, but, they are NOT the same.... not a lot will swap.

Yep. I wanted the V-10 because it didn't have a distributor. That, and it was more power than the 5.9 I had in my previous truck. (gas.) Of course, gas was a LOT cheaper then.....
