Have 97 dodge ram 5.9L sport. And as of late I sometimes have a hard time starting it. The usual is I go to start it but nothing. No crank no clicks. But when this happens I either have to take my foot off the break and it starts up. Sometimes vise versa. Almost seemed to be bad battery, maybe starter etc. Today though I went to start it and nothing. Foot on break and off, still nothing. Then it would slowly crank and want to start up but kept cutting out. Finally got it to start but it wanted to stall out. I kept on the gas for a little bit and then it idled fine. Doesn't happen everyday but becoming more of an occurrence. Have noticed my voltage Guage recently fluctuates. Goes up when on gas an lowers when at idle. Anywhere from 10-14

Sounds like voltage regulator in the alternator is toast, and it probably killed a cell in the battery….sounds like you need an alternator and battery….

Or maybe you have a draw somewhere

Might want to try cleaning the battery terminals.

Load test battery but I'd also carefully inspect battery cables
