Default P0340 dtc

1999 Ram 1500 5.9 4x4
got in it and tried to start…it will turn over but not start. CEL came on. P0340 Camshaft Position sensor A circuit. Where is the cam shaft located?

Well the camshaft is in the engine block but the sensor sits in the distributor at the back of the engine.

Yeah, changing that sensor is easy.... once you figure out how to get at it...... It's under the distributor cap, I think the parts stores actually refer to it as "pickup coil."

Last time I had to do one on-site I literally folded up my topside creeper, loaded it into my truck, drove over and unfolded the creeper in the dirt/gravel. It doesn't much matter if it can roll because once you get it in place you're good.

Honestly whatever time was spent hauling it was easily saved by having it, but I'm also the type who loves tools, useful gadgets and being prepared or even over-prepared.
