Question 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 engine shuts down while driving

I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 V8 5.2 Sport that while driving sometimes (especially when it's hot outside) the engine shuts down and I'll have to pull to the side and sometimes it will start right back up and sometimes I'll have to wait 5 to 15 - 20 minutes till it will start up again. I so far replaced the idle control valve sensor and throttle sensor. Next I'm going to replace the crankshaft position sensor and the ignition coil and the camshaft sensor, just keep replacing these things till I fix it. If someone knows how to fix this I'm all ears.

Have you used a scanner to determine if you have any codes when the truck shuts down? Sounds like your crank sensor may be going bad. If you end up replacing it, please be sure to use a Mopar crank sensor, as many of the aftermarket sensors don't work particularly well on these trucks.

I have not got it scanned yet I'll try to go take it to O'reilys tomorrow to do that and I already bought a cheap crankshaft sensor on eBay that I'm going to throw in soon and if it fixes it ill hunt down that expensive Mopar crankshaft sensor and throw that in instead.
Process of elimination I guess.

The cheap sensor will likely introduce more problems than it will solve.

I been trying to find a Mopar Crankshaft Position Sensor for my 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 V8 5.2 Sport but everyone seems to be out of stock or just don't have it in Mopar brand.

Get the part number you need from some dodge site. (I think rock auto will be able to provide as well.) Then just search google with the part number. Several sources should show up, and with pricing a LOT better than the dealer.

Tried the crankshaft but no dice but now my cam sensor is bad because the engine light came on so i used my scanner and came up with p0340 bad cam sensor so i was wondering what cam sensor brand do you recommend? would the most expensive one at O'Reilly work?
(tried replacing cam with a cheap one from eBay for like 11 bucks that's the one that came up bad btw)
(BTW i believe my stalling problem is the pcm i saw a no bus flash up on my mileage.)

Mopar cam sensor would be your best option here as well. You can find it in the same manner as was suggested for the crank sensor.

You can locate the part number for the sensor via the factory parts manual for your year truck. You can download it here - https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...s-manuals.html
Or, you can contact a Dodge dealer and obtain the part number. Once you have the part number, you can Google for it and find it. I would not install an O'Reilly's cam sensor....
