I'll let the gas run through and see if the problem repeats. Then drop if it comes back

Though, I am Still not convinced because I had my quad and saw running on that same gas with no issues

Yeah, if the problem doesn't come back, then there is no point in fixing it.

how did compression look in the other cylinders? Did you test them??

You probably don't recall but I had posted previously about my trucks liberal appetite for oil, it ended up being the plenum and valve cover gaskets. While diagnosing that problem, I had ran a compression test - all cylinders besides 1&3 were 165-175.

I'm sure the rings in 1&3 are the culprit for the lowER compression and eventually be the death of that magnum, but when its running right, she feels health and stout

How is its appetite now? Mine didn't leak it, but it sure could go thru it quick, even after I did the plenum. But, it had almost 200K miles on it, and it was not treated nicely by previous owners...... (rode hard, and put away wet....) Valve seals might have helped, but,I do believe that the rings were shot, and that's where the bulk of the oil was going.

Well, it was going through 1 quart every 50 miles. After repairing the plenum and valve cover gaskets, Then we took it on a coast to coast trip (3800 miles) and it leaked 8 quarts total (in the process of diagnosing the oil consumption problem, I thought it would be a great idea to check the pickup tube since we were going on such a long trip. But failed the PITA oil pan gasket job which leaked at both the front and rear right from the get go. After the trip, the under carriage is soaked with oil) If it weren't for the leak, it probably wouldn't burn much

Wow, your plenum must have been REALLY bad.....

Getting that pan gasket in place, and keeping it in place while installing the pan IS a right pain in the keester.

I might be tempted to replace the O2 sensors as well, given the amount of oil that burned..... (NTK or Denso only please.)

I keep the gasket in place(on the pan) with silicone and put a few studs in the holes in the block. Then it's a lot easier to line it up and thread in a bolt.
