I wonder if this was all started by snap ring failure?? Did you ever install the upgrade?

Pull that slip shaft housing and let us know if the snap ring is still in place on the main shaft/rear output.

I've got to pull mine and install the Sonnax kit to keep that from happening... Thanks for the reminder...

I belive a bad trans mount as the transfer case was hitting the floor of the cab really hard.

Ouch yeah if t-case was hitting body that would likely do it. These alloy case housings aren't meant for that kind of external abuse

I agree. Now the hard park is finding that cover.

I was thinking you're lucky. 231 cases are much easier to find than 241's

I really don't want to buy a whole case just the back cover. 241s and 231s are easy to find near me

Default Update

Here is what I found. The rear housing is ok and the output shaft isn't bad. The rear retainer housing is shot, along with the back case half. I pulled everything with the transfer case still on the truck. Some metal shavings in there but I will clean them out. Does the magnet go under the filter?

That seemed to have fixed the issue. Now onto the drive line vibration
