Default 2001 5.2 randomly died won't run

2001 5.2 4x4 NV3500 truck. was driving down the road at about 50 mph and all of the sudden the truck had just died on me. pulled over to side of road and it will crank and crank and crank, it will start but it will only idle at about 400 rpms for a few seconds and then die and if you give it any throttle it will die. any ideas on what this could be?

Any recent maintenance done on the truck? Have you scanned it for any pending or stored codes? If so, what codes are being displayed? Is the battery in the truck in good shape and fully charged?

When you cycle key to on position do you hear the fuel pump start priming?

also could be cam/crank sensor, ignition coil, fist. Cap and rotor…..many things can cause a no start, getting it scanned would be what I’d do if I do hear fuel pump come on

Try swapping the fuel pump relay with another relay. If that doesn't get it going, sounds like you have a dead fuel pump.
