Default Transfer case swap

I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500 4X4 ORE. Laramie SLT.
Will a transfer case from a 1999 dodge ram 1500 fit my truck? Thanks in advance 👍🍷

Yep, should bolt right in, and hook right up.

There *might* be one minor difference, now that I think about it.... There are two possible cases there. NP231D, and NP231DHD. Make sure the model number matches, and you'll be all set.

Vin decoder from FCA says: Shift-on-the-Fly,231HD Transfer Case

You have the DHD t-case. The 231D will be an inch or so shorter..... so, rear driveshaft length is going to be an issue.

Will there be a spline tooth difference?

Splines should be the same. Should be able to use the drive shaft from the t-case donor, assuming it is the same cab/bed length as yours.

Did 1/2 tons do 23/29 spline for manual vs auto like 3/4 tons?

I wasn't even aware there was a spline difference..... Since they are both half tons, it shouldn't matter.
