There's definitely a difference in the 2500s, thus 241DLD or 241DHD t-cases. IIRC manual was 23 spline so that'd be NV4500 or NV5600, and auto was 29 spline so that'd be just the 47RE I guess?

I hope I don't have that info reversed... hopefully someone will set me straight if so

Wonder if that depends on which engine is in it as well.... I had a 2500 5.9 gas, with the 46RE trans, and a 241DHD transfer case. Oddly enough though, my 98 2500, 8.0, 47RE, has a 241D.... not HD.......

it actually depends on the year. Early 00 got one and later 00 got the other. Rockauto confirms that

I dunno, our '02 CTD got the NP241DLD.

You'd think a truck with the Cummins, NV5600 and D80 rear pig (with D70 outers) would get a DHD, but no. I've always figured the DHD was viewed more as an option to order the PTO.....can't swear to it, though

I meant spline count. The transfer case was what you ordered. My 02 Cummins HAD the DHD and NV5600 before the PO decided to try and bolt up a NV3500 and 231DLD

The cummins would make VERY short work of that NV3500.... but, that trans shouldn't even bolt up to the diesel......
