Default 5.9 Power Mods

Hello all. I am coming to ask for opinions on mods to complement my engine. This engine is fully rebuilt by myself. Here is what it has:

fully rebuilt bottom end (stock... and i regret it)
Comp adjustable double roller timing chain
hughes 1110 valve springs
Comp 20-744-9 cam
New, stock heads that are polished
also has been tuned by hemifever

Everything else is stock. I want to add a little more power in the mid rpm range. Here are the mods I want.

52mm throttle body
Shorty headers
1.7 roller rockers. The cam has .480 lift on both intake and exhaust and I want a little more.

Thoughts on this and any other mods? I have the autolite plugs everyone talks about

If your springs have the specced installed height, the 1.7 rockers will work just fine. Another member got 10HP/TQ from JUST doing the rockers. (on an otherwise stock engine.) Headers will only help you. Long tubes would get you more, but, the also cost more, and more to install as well.

Not sure what you mean by the height but here are the specs for the springs.

Is this a 4x4 truck? What tire sizes are on the truck and what gear ratio is in the rear differential (and front differential, if 4x4)?
I upgraded my throttle body to the Hughes Big Gulp several months ago. It helped with better overall throttle response.

yes its 4x4 with 33s and 3.92 gears. It actually feels peppy but the trans is just HORRENDOUS at having the rpms where I want them. I like keeping em higher since my cam has raised the power band a touch but the trans... just annoys me. Manual swap in future??? Anyway I want more power if there is more to get easily

Stock trans and differentials? What year truck? You might want to change ring and pinion to a 4.10 maybe, and wouldn't hurt to shift kit the trans. Getting more power from the engine means that rest of the drivetrain needs some attention, too, to get all the ponies to the road.

as far as I can tell it's the original trans. The carfax never mention it getting replaced in its 212k miles. But it also never mentioned someone getting rid of a 360 for a 318... so who knows. Im afraid to touch the trans. And a regear would definitely make a massive difference but it aint in the budget quite yet 😂

Changing from 3.92 to 4.10 gears would be so little difference that it wouldn't be worth the effort.

If the springs are installed with the listed 'installed height', then you won't have problems with the 1.7 rockers. That is most certainly something I would check before installation. You only need to experience coil bind once, to understand you don't wanna do it again.
