Will a fuel pressure regulator be able to regulate 50psi fuel pump down to 8-9?
Im currently building a 360 mopar carb for my 2nd gen dodge. Im keeping the stock fuel pump which is around 50psi stock from what i read. Im hooking the pump to a switch and i was curious if a regulator will even be able to regulate 50psi down to 8-9psi. im going with a holley regulator and its rated to regulate down to 5psi to 9psi
It might, however, it likely won't last long. The old electric Holley blue fuel pump that the regulator was designed for only produced 14 psi and also required a return line. The factory fuel injection pump runs at a much higher pressure and has no return line.
Holley makes a nice pressure regulator, with return, for just such an occasion. You will have to run the return line yourself, but, the regulator will work just fine.
