Default 4 wd clicking ? Front right

Good loud clicking,I can hear it in the cab.
Not the u joint or axleOnly in 4 wd.
Searched this forum,wasn't getting anywhere.
I know I need to rip into it to repair,,, I'm hoping I can have needed/suggested parts on hand.No way to get to the parts store after I tear it up !
Brakes, wheel bearing /seals...but the cause of the clicking?

What ya think?

Jack it up, spin things by hand, see if you can find the culprit.

Dry u-joints can make the same noises as loose ones.....

My initial thought, the slide collar may not be fully engaging with the vaccum shift on the axel housing. But, as said above, jack it up, put in 4 wheel drive and rotate the right front. Note: I do not have vaccum forks on any of my trucks, converted to manual engagement. So I dont know if the collar stays engaged with the egine off. Maybe someone can help with that.

Eh, it pretty much stays where ever you shove it but without constant vacuum it can/will eventually walk....

Good thought, though.....I also figured similar but my money is more on dry u-joint needles. If it's truly a click I vote needles, if it's a "whir" could be CAD slide collar.

Or if it's not absolutely, positively front axle the front d/s CV centering ball LOVES to click when near death

If it was the u joints or axle...
should be doing it in 2 wheel drive also...correct ?

Should have thought about jacking her up and spinning by hand for a up close, personal look see.

Leaning towards the suggestion bout vacuum problem, I've had numerous vacuum issues the last few years.

Two ways to find the source; do nothing and faulty part will eventually break. Or, lift the front end up and check every single moving part by hand.
