Default NV3500 3rd gear issues

in my own negligance and inexperience with working on transmissions i forgot to take off a snap ring and broke the teeth on the synchro for 3rd but not the brass part the part attached to third. im having trouble finding a replacememnt gear for 3rd that has the same amount of teeth, all the ones im finding have 30 teeth and the one i have has 39 which is weird. its a 1998 dodge 1500 with a nv3500 for sure but maybe its the first generation of the nv3500, whichever has the 2 piece synchros for 1st/2nd. any info on that would be greatly appreciated. im sure it isnt an nv3550 because of the two piece case with the belhousing non-detachable

There is a thread in the FAQ/DIY section with parts manuals, find the one for your truck, and you should be able to look up the correct part number for the gear in question.

I understand that theres a FAQ/DIY thread with manuals and all of that, i already know what i need, i checked out the FAQ/DIY thread and didnt find anything helpful. i have a manual for the thransmission already, but only this specific gear doesnt match what should be in an nv3500. i have a 30t 3rd gear that should be whats in there but the teeth dont align. im just looking for info on a 39t 3rd gear, if maybe theres an obscure or deep thread that answers my question id be happy to look.

Ok, from what I am seeing, second gear is 39 teeth? Are you sure you have the right gear?

yes I’m sure, I’ve looked at multiple different diagrams, it’s gear before the 4th gear on the main shaft, so the second one in from the input shaft side. The only thing I found was something on midwesttrans that said something about a nv3500 with a 39t third gear part number NV24485. But I can’t find that part anywhere else

Give 'em a call, and see what they have to say.

just tried to call them and they dont make it anymore, or have any available. The teeth on the gear are find it’s just one of the smaller teeth on where the synchro slider would slide into that’s missing, what are the odds I get away with putting it back in that way and being alright?

you can see the tooth missing, in my head since it’s not a gear tooth maybe it could be filed down or something to get rid of sharp edges and it wouldn’t be too much of a problem but I’m in no way an expert on the subject or anything, hence seeking advise lol

here’s the synchro side

If you can't find another one... you may not be left any choice but to re-use it. Clean it up as best you can, smooth out the wrinkle there as well.

Is that syncro ring just pressed on to the gear?? Wonder if you could just replace that......
