Default interchangeable transmission??

I have a 2002 dodge ram 1500 5.9l transmission is 46RE. The transmission is going out have never done a transmissions wondering if a 2001 dodge Durango with the 5.7l transmission is 46RE are they interchangeable. If so do I need to change the torque converter to the one that came out of the truck or leave the Durango I'm going to buy a new one torque converter ether way

5.7 uses a different trans, so no, that won't work for you. You need another 46RE from a similar year truck. Need to make sure the trans range sensor has the same number of wires as yours. Also, same number of drive wheels. If your trans is going out, do NOT use your torque converter in the replacement trans. That will just kill the replacement.

The Durango came with either a 5.9 or a 4.7 engine during that year. Which engine does it have? If it has a 5.9, it likely has a 46RE behind it. Is your truck 2WD or 4WD?

47RE came behind diesels, and V-10's. So far as I know, the 5.7 got the 45RFE, or 545RFE.....

Oh yeah, that too Slightly confusing, as the FWD abbreviation is commonly used on front wheel drive cars.

Yeah, that's my experience too... but, it's a truck. So, that really doesn't make any sense.....
