Default Front left wheel clicks

My front left wheel clicks but only in 4 wheel drive. It does not click constantly but only when, for example, the tires are spinning in snow, it only clicks about 3 or so times when it engages (when right wheel stops spinning, sends power to the left) then it stops. Could this be a u-joint? Also whenever i first engage 4wd from a stop it there is a single click (when i step on the gas to move), is this normal, sounds like its coming from driveshaft or something?

Thanks

I'd check the ujoints first if they are good I'd check the ball joints but I would guess it's the U-joint if I had to guess.

how hard/expensive is a u-joint to replace? And u need a tool right, kinda like a ball joint press? I'm only 18 and have only had this truck since the summer, so i really have not had to work on it before. All i've done is go-kart engines, lawn mowers ect... So i am not sure how hard it will actually be. But if i am not mistaken: you have to remove the hub nut, caliper, steering knucle, right???

Thanks

Sounds like what happened to mine. It was just a U-joint problem. I took it to a mechanic because I thought I'd need a press. He said that it came out fine, but they had to use a press to get the new one in. The u-joint itself is dirt cheap, it's just getting to it that costs so much. Not sure about the details on how to do it, my factory manual is at home.
