Default 1999 Dodge 2500 4x4 Transmission Slipping in 3rd

So Im new to the Forum, I bought this 1999 Dodge 2500 4x4 with V10 and 47re transmission. Reverse, 1st and 2nd are perfect, shift to 3rd (40mph) and engine just revs up. Replaced all solenoids and sensors except Speed Sensor. Changed filter and filled with ATF +4. Check fluid idling in neutral. I can unplug the 8 pin wire connector and can manually shift 1st, 2nd and even 3rd which leads me too electrical or solenoid issue. Anyone have any thoughts? Really don't wanna swap trannys if that isn't gonna fix the problem. Thanks in advance!!

If it doesn't slip with the 8 pin disconnected, then it is indeed an electronics problem. I would suspect PCM isn't keeping pressure where it should be. But, I wouldn't expect that to be a programming issue.... If you have a decent scanner, can you see what the pressure sensor does when it shifts into third? (there is no separate solenoid for that.)

It shouldn't....... There is an output speed sensor on the trans, but, the PCM gets vehicle speed from the rear wheel speed sensor. If your speedo is working, then so is that sensor.

So either the governor pressure solenoid, or the sensor ain't quite right. Was it doing the same thing before the change?

Then I would suspect a valve body issue, or something similar. I don't recall if one of the bands is involved with 3rd....

And now that I have reminded myself..... Grab the service manual for your truck from here. Go thru the trans section, and see if it doesn't suggest anything.

And that kinda rules out a mechanical issue.... Which is rather confusing.....
