Flooding out getting spark 🤔
Flooding out it will start up when I have no air filter on the throttle body at all nothing on it and it will continue to idle when I put everything back on but after driving for a few minutes it choked out again trying to restart it acts like it wants to but is choking out hold my foot to the floor and crank it it started up revved high and choked out just did the plenum fix with the new Hughes plate. help guys
Check for vacuum leaks around the intake/heads, Spray some brake clean or starting fluid around them (running engine)but do it when the engine is cold. If there is a leak the rpm will rise when you spray it near the leak. What gaskets did you use?
Hey man thanks for this but I used the gaskets that came in the Hughes kit to reinstall the plenum and it will not start with the air filter all hooked up it only started with the throttle body open with nothing covering once I put the filter and all back together the idle came down and it idled and drove fine for a minute or two go to back up in the yard and it tried to stall out so I stopped giving gas it was able to come back in idle put it in drive went forward back in reverse to back up and it choked out if I hold the throttle to the floor with the filter and all hooked up on the throttle body it will start up Rev really high and then shut off and it only did the vacuum leak with throttle and then the vacuum goes away and it's coming directly above the throttle body could not get a response with any kind of brake clean or starting fluid sprayed..
No I don't have a scanner and it's not throwing a check engine light on the dash the only way I was able to get it scanned was when I had my transmission rebuilt they hooked up something to it fancy and was able to pull a code for high voltage on my TPS I recently replaced all those before I did the plenum change so I'm not sure if they have went bad but I know when I start the truck at cold it fires right up but idle is very high now after flooding out I didn't let it run for long because the idol did not drop quick enough so I shut it down but I'm hearing a strong vacuum leak on the throttle body I just haven't verified where at.
After the fix
It it started doing this but I can tell it seems like it's trying to flood out from not enough spark when I crank it after it sat all night it starts right up but will rev and stay idling at about 2500 rpm try to throttle it out and it'll drop down to about 1200 to 750 like it's trying to choke but then come back up to 2500 then when I shut it down and try to restart immediately after it gives me the flooded out symptom like it won't start what could I have done wrong in the plenum kit that could cause this everything is put back in with new tight clean seals could it be that the rotor button and cap aren't giving enough spark due to the proper amount of fuel or did I do something wrong 👩🔧🤔😔

It honestly seems like it's getting too much fuel or not enough fuel and just a little bit of coolant and it's fowling the plug but I'm not seeing any color variation in my oil I I have everything torqued down although one head bolt broke during plenum removal I drilled and tapped it put a new bolt in and during torque sequence that bolt spun free again I did not do anything to it I left it in where it was at and torqued everything else down the vacuum leak is not coming from that area at all but could that be leaking the small amount of fluid into the chamber to make the plugs foul because it was the bolt directly near the heater core coolant line that plugs into the top of the manifold but again there is no color variation in my oil
