Default Fuel filter access inquiry 🤷‍♂️

So I definitely want to change my fuel filter ( even if I have to pay for it) but I was wondering…. Anyone ever cut an access hole in the bed of the truck before? ( and obviously leave it open for the future, mine I think will be covered by a tool box)

was wondering if anyone had ever taken that step before or if I’m just down right crazy and it wouldn’t even work? All comments good or dickheaded are welcomed hah

thank you all

The filter is part of the fuel pump module, can't change just the filter, have to change the whole module. The filter is large enough though, that it will last the life of the pump, unless you get some seriously dirty gas on a regular basis.

Plenty of people do it but not me. Unless you plan on welding it back in all the water and crap fall right on the top of the tank/pump.
If you have around 200K it's time to change it anyway. The biggest pain in the *** is getting the fuel line disconnected from underneath other than that it's not to bad(as long as the tank is near empty).
