Default Headlight issues

Hello, I have a 2002 Ram 2500 and I am having an issue where the headlights will not come on sometimes, and the brights will only flash not stay on, like when you try to turn them on when the light switch is off. I inspected the light switch and i did not find anything wrong with it. Could a bad multi function/ combo switch be causing this? Thank you

It's possible. Need to find where you are losing power though. Might be the multi-function switch.....

Please be sure to check the headlight switch very closely. Sometimes, the wires melt or lose connectivity inside the connector that plugs into the headlight switch and you can't see the damage unless you remove the connector. The headlight switch and/or pigtail connector is famous for failing due to the current load of the headlights on the switch over time. If you plan to keep the truck awhile, it's a good idea to add a relay harness to the headlight circuit so that the headlights can pickup direct battery power and provide brighter headlights, too. Some folks make their own, LMC truck sells them, Gino's Garage sells them and here is another example - https://ceautoelectricsupply.com/hea...ion-relay-kit/

I do have the genos garage sport (dual bulb) conversion set. I jiggled the switch and it started working again so its either the switch or wires. Side note: Do you know where i can find the metal clip things to hold the screws for the switch in the dash? Mine fell out and i cant find them

Great. Glad you found the issue. I went through a similar issue and was able to purchase both the headlight switch and the pigtail harness as a kit. You should be able to find those clips at your local auto parts store in the nuts, bolts and fastener section. I believe they slide over the hole(s) in the dash to allow a sheet metal screw to hold the switch in the dash.

Or search for Auveco products, they'll make them.

I double checked and i noticed on a few of the connectors that there is grease (probably dielectric grease) with some green on it. Is this normal?

Doubtful. Likely, someone has been there before making repairs... The green certainly isn't normal. Each female terminal must connect tightly to each spade terminal. Check the wiring at least 4 - 6 inches back from the pigtail to ensure they aren't frayed/burned from heat.

Also check the terminals on the switch, If' it's been heating up you will see signs of it.
