Is it possible to mount the flexplate backwards? And is the flexplate bolted directly on crankshaft? Or is there a steel ring between?
does someone have a illustration/photo of a correct installed flexplate?

I've called with the tranny shop, and now i'm doubting if the flexplate was installed correctly. It's been torqued down to spec, that's for sure.

On these, no, I don't think they can install it backwards. Not only is the start ring gear on the flex plate, there is also the part that the crank sensor reads. Install it backwards, and things won't line up.

Flexplate mounts directly to the crank.

Allright guys. Performance wise my whole transmission works as it should. No performance issues.

When standing still, and hit gas in reverse, i hear a rattle slightly, just as some lose piece of metal on a vibrating metal plate.

Regular driving i don't hear sound untill at 40mph. When the transmission then shifts - i suppose into third , i hear the rattle coming from the trans tunnel. It really sounds coming from close to the engine.

Today i took off the starter, and inspection plate. No signs of something scraping against it. As well the flexplate, looks as good as new. From underneath i didn't notice any cracks or damage to the flexplate.

All bolts i could easily reach, where torqued down tight. Nothing was sitting loose. Both 2 tabs of the inspection panel, the ones that hook behind the engine aren't bend or such.

Bolts onto torque convertor tight. I'm running out of possible things. I've asked a garage if i could use their workspace to take the tranny out , and check if the bolts onto the crankshaft are tight.

I can't believe my torque convertor wen't bad in a few days of no use? My car was rattle free before i did the freeze plugs ( and no they're not sitting out with a border).

I'm becoming desperate. Is it normal for a torque convertor to make noise before it goes bad?

Whack the cat converter with a rubber mallet a couple times, does it rattle?

It's only 7 months old the cat, so should be fine! But will check.

It does sound like the rattle goes along with the rpm, but i can't say 100%

Just a loose heatshield can make the awful buzzing noise....

Do you hear the noise when revving the motor in neutral? If so have someone rev the motor and look around under the motor and see if you can pin point where it's coming from. Definitely check the heat shields(cat)!

I've read the whole string, and don't think I've missed the latest comment...
Please don't forget: noise travels, bounces, gets deflected. I would suggest getting a set of Chassis Ears and trying different locations under the vehicle during road tests. I've used them for many years and have found sources of noises I could not have found without them.
Also, a member suggested revving the engine up while in Park--great idea, but test several times and increase revolutions at different rates. Revving the engine quickly and letting off may not reproduce the noise, but revving less quickly might. This has worked for me many times.
