Default Steering shaft

Now that the weather is slowly warming up thinking about doing some more repairs . I made a post once about steering shafts as to what is a decent upgrade and all I’ve heard pretty much is Borgeson pretty much. My shaft has a lot of play in the u joint so I think it’s time to replace the original part and hopefully elimate some slop. It is a 4x4 1500 so I know they are a bit different from the 2wd. Thinking about just ordering this dorman shaft as it has to be a lot better then what’s in it now . I’m sure as these trucks get even older then they are now it’s going to be hard to find better aftermarket parts

You can also check Flaming River - they also sell a quality replacement steering shaft for 2nd gen Dodge trucks.

I'm interested in what route you go. I have a new shaft. I'm thinking about deleting the rag joint and replacing it with spacers since the aftermarket ones are bolted in. Mine has gotten almost dangerous lately. Pulling some snowmobiles back from deer hunting in a wind on patchy ice was way sketchy with how much play is there.

ya it’s pretty scary mine isn’t to great either . I took mine out hunting aswell but only drive an hour to the spot. Wouldt want to drive to much farther. It could also be a mix of the steering box and shaft. I’m going to start with the shaft first and see how much play it helps with then new box and pitman arm next
