Default Engine rpms slowly climbing in drive

Just curious if there is something that could be causing this or if it is normal, when flooring it in drive rpms get to 2000 pretty quick but then slowly climb after that, i can hit the gas in park and it easily revs past 2000, could it be spark plugs ir something of that nature? If so, why does it climb slowly in drive but not in park? Could torque converter stall be an issue? I have recently swapped the trans and it is not slipping or anything but torque converter was replaced with a 2300-2600 stall, could that be the issue? Thanks in advance!
