Default Weak Front Spring

On my 96 Dodge Ram 2500 V10, when I measured from the ground up to the bottom of the lip of the wheel well on the passenger side it was 1/2 inch lower than the driver's side. Is this normal or do I need a new spring on the passenger side?

I wouldn't think so. Is this a 2WD or 4WD truck? Also, check for any other worn front end components (bushings, ball joints, sway bar links, etc.)..

The rear springs were more inclined to settle unevenly, but, that was more on the 1500's, than the heavier trucks. Measure the back too... see what ya get.

I've never measured a NEW vehicle but I'd be surprised if it rolled out of the factory perfectly level. A half inch isn't much.

If it bothers you or rides poorly, pursue it. If not, ignore it.

If there are no PERFORMANCE complaints, I'd do a 1/2" spacer because a new spring will likely sit high ..... until it settles and if it's aftermarket it may very well sag once broken in. IOW fine tune now with a KNOWN quantity

I checked the rear and it is equal on both sides at 37". It seem to me when going down the road the right side is much lower to the left side, yes there is a crown on the middle of the road but even in the left lane the right side seems lower. I was a carpenter for 30 years and I still have a good eye for level, it is very easy for me to see a 1/2" difference, it bugs the heck out of me.

Ok, that explains a lot.

If you are going to replace a spring, just do both of 'em. Otherwise, you are just changing the problem, not solving it.

Good luck. Replace both as HeyYou said or do a spacer as I said. Jeep guys do spacers ALL THE TIME to fine-tune ride height. I've got a Fishbone 3/4" on the right rear of my JL because that's where the ARB cooler lives when loaded

I can't find a spacer cup style for my pickup. The only ones available are the ones that insert in the coil spring. I'm not sure I want to do that and then buy what would give me 1/2" or so lift. Any suggestions?

Nope, I'm a machinist and fabricator every day so I'd just build something. Coil spacers are just round discs and lathes make round things.

If you're not a machinist/fabricator, or don't own a metal lathe, check with any maker spaces in your area.

There is a maker space near where I live that has some metalworking tools, including a lathe, and they do not require a membership to do a one-off use of most tools. (They require a tour and some instruction and the signing of a waiver, and they are non-profit and of course accept donations.) They even often have scrap or leftover or donated materials that folks can freely use.

There might also be for-profit makerspaces around you that will let you pay cheap for a one-off use of equipment. Or you might know a member of a maker space that would make it for you if you supply the material.

YMMV.
