Default timing chain

How long will the timing chain last on my 2001 ram 1500 4x4 with a 5.9 magnum engine, with 187000 miles on it. I change oil & filter every 3000 miles or sooner .I bought it with 40000 miles . knock on wood It seems to run fine with good power

Basically, at over 150K miles, it's time to change it.

Be sure to install a double roller timing chain and gear set when you do replace it. For added measure and greater longevity, I use a timing chain tensioner with the new chain -

I've pulled them at 180K and it hadn't jumped yet. It was ready to though. I've got around 150K on my engine and the plenum just failed. Running okay but under load it backfries and uses a quart of oil every 100 miles as opposed to 600 or 700 just a few weeks ago. Once my Dakota I just dragged home is running, the 360 in the Ram is next.
