Not sure what I'm doing wrong
Hi so I posted a couple months back on a 2000 ram 1500 5.2 about low compression well I came to the same conclusion as you guys did bad motor. I purchased a used motor and went through it rebuild oil pump, New double roller chain and gear, Replaced the lower plenum of the intake with an aluminum one put everything back together. Upon inspection of distributor after I changed the chain and gear I realized the button was 180 out. I rechecked to ensure that I was at TDC on compression stroke with both valves closed on number 1 cyl. My question is did I do the right thing by remove the distributor and rotate the button 180 put it back in and align the mark on the cam sensor and rotor before locking down? I have since put the motor into my truck and well you can guess it will not start I am pulling my hair out over this any HELP would be greatly appreciated. Also at least with this motor I did a check before hooking all the cam and crank sensors up and good compression and getting oil pressure and when all is connected I have fire just not cranking am concerned I did the wrong thing by moving the distributor ???? Also if anyone can help me my number is 229-393-1182 please give me a call. Thanks in advanced

Do you have the service manual for your truck? If not, get one here. There is a procedure for R&R the distributor, go thru that, and it should be close enough to get the engine to run. Also keep in mind, crank position sensors are frequently victims of engine/trans swaps.... they get bent, or broken, and the engine simply will not run. Verify the distributor is correct, see if it starts. If not, find out what's missing, fuel, or spark. I would like to think that air simply isn't a problem.
Thank you HeyYou,
I have went back through it again and rechecked marks everything seems to be in place as I described rotor is pointing not exactly at number 6 but in the direction at TDC. Should I replace the cam sensor?

A quickie check, when your piston is at TDC your rotor inside the cap should be pointing at #1 post give or take some. The timing marks on the double roller timing chain lined up properly? Did you take a picture of this?

On a 2000 you should have a "tach bounce" (tach needle slightly coming off rest) when cranking. That will tell you if the crank sensor is good. Then, try some starting fluid that will tell you if the ignition is correct. If that checks out look into the cam sensor and cam sensor setting.
Update after several attempts at checking everything where I had it set going into truck I made the tough decision of bringing it up to TDC on compression stroke and then rotating motor and additional 360. from here I pulled the distributor and aligned rotor in correct position adjusted the distributor to align rotor and cam marker tightened everything down put plugwires back on and poof it crunk up Thanks for all the advise Hey Cool.

I have a 2000 Dodge Durango 5.2 with P0753 code can anyone tell me which wires the Pcm uses to ground the solenoid so I can check if the path from Pcm to ground is good. Already changed solenoid still have code. A pcm diagram would also be helpful if you have one you can share with me

If you are sure the dist is correct, see whats missing. Fuel, or spark.
