Default Interior question

Has anyone changed the front driver side cushion without complete seat removing? I just can't find a way to access the four bolts. I am looking to replace both the cushion and cover. Every you tube video seems to skip over that part getting to those bolts. Thanks

The bottom cushion comes right off with a few bolts underneath. It can be swapped with the passenger side. The back cushion I've never taken off.

This is on my 99. Not sure what year you have as the seats were changed in 98.

I have a 1999 2 door single cab. I understand they will remove but getting to those bolts is where I am having an issue with. Unless I am looking at the wrong 4 bolts. I don't see a way to get a wrench on them. I'm going to attempt again today.

I've posted it several times but on the regular cabs Dodge inexplicably built the seats WAY WAY differently. The cushion is seriously integrated into the entire seat.

On extra cabs it's just four simple bolts and it comes right out.

TTBOMK the only fix for a single cab seat would be to take it to an upholstery shop. I had initially wanted to get medieval on our '98 and find a way to make a Dorman cushion fit but after close inspection I abandoned the idea. Maybe I gave up too easily?

Now what I really want to try is fitting an extra cab seat to a regular cab solely because the lower cushions are so easily replaceable. Of course the problem is finding an extra cab seat.....

I installed numerous Dormans here --including a couple photos of the bolts for the lower cushion --but for a regular cab it won't help you a bit:

I found most are extended cab but if you see a single, they don't show the taking out process. This is where it gets difficult since what I do find in bolts are impossible get to. It's crazy because I wouldn't mind taking the seat out since it would be nice to repaint the frame as well. The problem again is getting to the bolts for the mid frame. Right now money is tight so I may give it a few more attempts and maybe get lucky? If not, then get some estimates on replacing it as well seeing if the seats can be cleaned up. In the meantime save some money up for the job. Thanks for information.

Well it looks that having a shop maybe modify this cushion and cover since taking a really good look at how it fits doesn't match what was sold to be even though eBay description said it was for this model truck. It seems that it has to go around back post of seat and that would require cutting and sewing which I know would look bad if I did it. lol. I know my limits. Thankfully I am in no rush since I am doing a lot of the interior work myself. I just simply can't sew so that going to be someone else job.

Yep, like I said it is SERIOUSLY integrated on the regular cab seats. I'm still confused as to why they thought the seats had to vary so drastically from regular cab to extra cab

I agree as well. I wonder if it select trucks or all regular cab trucks since most websites list these seat cover and cushion will fit for replacement?

After reading this while looking for another thread, I looked in the shop manual and walked out to my 2001 1500 QuadCab. The foam on the outside edge of the driver's seat had collapsed though the fabric is still good. As Ramman18 said "4 bolts". I spent more time going back and forth to my tool box to get the right combination of ratchet, socket, extension, boxend, etc.
I noticed the outside of both cushions has mouse fur and the inside is vinyl, after swapping, fur inside, vinyl outside. Then there was the matter of cleaning 20+ years of accumulated animal hair and spilled food and drink.
That was too damned easy!

Hi, I am in need of getting to the 2nd of the two back bolts on the passenger side seat frame. Did you figure out how to do this? Thanks much!
