Default Transmission look up Help!

So I have a 1997 dodge Ram 5.9 1500 4x4.
with a 46 re trans
I bought a trans from a guy who said it was a 97 46re 4x4

so I’m ripping apart and if gas different filter 2 screws I’m a plastic case and a square selenoid, compared to mine which had a 3 screw trans filet and round selenoid .
will this work.
I also have serial number off trans if anyone knows a site or how to look it up!

It may bolt in, but, the electronics will be wrong, and it won't have the provision for mounting the t-case shifter on the trans either.

Check the case, if it doesn't have the mounting bosses for the t-case shifter.... nope, won't work. The electronics can be changed, if the bosses are there.

If you can post some pics of the trans, we can tell ya if it'll work or not. If he already had it in a 97, then chances are good it will bolt right into yours as well.
