Default Steering Wheel Stereo Controls Retrofit

Hey guys,

Anyone know if the later 2nd gen trucks (mine is an 01) are all pre-wired for steering wheel stereo controls? I see that you can still buy the switches, but I haven't had my steering wheel off so I have no idea if the wiring is there for them to plug into.

Thanks!

Looks like there are different clocksprings depending on what options you have, but rockauto DOES show a clockspring for a 2001 ram that has steering wheel controls.

Is it as simple as swapping the clockspring, cutting holes for the switches, and away you go, or are there more things down the line I'm not thinking of?

I would expect the harness going TO the clockspring is likely different as well. Should be an easy check... see if there are more wires in the harness side connector, than there are in the steering wheel side for the clockspring.
