46re trans removal questions
So I have a 97 Ram 1500 4x4 5,9.
over the holiday weekend I will be ATTEMPTING to remove and install my 46re trans .
I had a couple threads going for help in rebuilding it .
so I figured I would start this one for continuous questions in regard. Hopefully I will get some help on the fly if needed.
first one any good videos on removing all i can find are terrible videos.
thanks

Will you be doing the removal on your back on the ground/concrete or do you have a place to perform the removal (ie: garage with a lift and a good assortment of tools, such as a transmission jack, etc.)?
On my back In garage. Tools will not be the problem.
just lacking knowledge me maybe the muscle to wrestle the trans around
I have read over and over how to remove so I’m not going in blind lol.
I’m sure an over planner, just yet to find a good video on removal.little confused on crank sensor some to say worry about.

Usually, the flexplate and the torque converter only bolt together one way. Typically, before removing the flexplate from the torque converter, I pick a spot where a bolt goes through the flexplate into the torque converter and paint a spot on the flexplate and torque converter in that location. This allows for the flexplate and torque converter to be easily bolted back up when re-installing the transmission. Keep in mind that if using a new torque converter as part of the transmission rebuild, you will need to match up the new torque converter with the flexplate so that all of the bolt holes on the torque converter line up with the flexplate, then re-mark the new torque converter to match the spot already on the flexplate. This helps reduce frustration when bolting up the flexplate and torque converter while on your back during the transmission re-install process. Hope this helps..
That helped a ton. So new TC no specific line to match up. I thought it was something that can on TC that I had to match up

Correct. No mark should be on the new torque converter, so you will need to line up the flexplate to ensure alignment of the bolt holes with the torque converter and create your own marks before re-installing the transmission.
Going threw my step by step notes and parts list to make sure I have everything.
As I stated I over kill a bit!
one thing when going over I don’t know. Is there a gasket or what is between transfer case and transmission ?
