First question was the fuel sync done after the rebuild? Aic sensor replaced? Intake air temp sensor? Put a vacuum gauge on it and let's see the results.

fuel sync was not done, as there is no one within like 80 miles to do it. And yes, i replaced my IAC (i assume thats what you meant).

Fuel sync needs to be done, no ifs or buts. There is a trick using a dvm, not perfect but it'll get ya close. It's on the web somewhere, sorry I lost that info years ago. Ya iac I have some dexlexic moments lolol.
also new timming chain, did you advance it *4 via the sprockets?

All good, I'll figure it out. And I've played with thw distributor for a few hours getting it just where i want it, so if it's off, it's likely not by much.

So I shined a light down into the throttle body, and sure enough there is oil residue throughout the plenum plate. It's not a puddle, but there has definitely been oil in there.

Well playing with the dizzy till your happy doesn't mean the ecu is happy. I guess your better than the drb tool used to set it. Gl with you adventure hope you figure it out.

See what manifold vacuum is like at idle.
