Hi. Regular lurker here. I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4. The transfer case was leaking so I pulled it apart and found a tear in the rubber on the bonded shim gasket at the tail housing. Does anyone know where I can get a new one. Everywhere I’ve looked shows them out of stock with no expected return date. Will a cork gasket work in its place? If so, what thickness should I get to make sure everything goes back together correctly?
Can you measure the thickness of the original gasket??
If it is just for the tail housing, I don't think its a real critical dimension.....

The shim thickness is .063 and according to TorqueKing “is both a shim and a gasket. The metal plate insures correct mainshaft to input shaft spacing is maintained and the raised rubber ring forms a leak-proof seal between your rear case half and rear bearing retainer.
That goes between the main shaft rear bearing retainer and the rear case, so it would shim something. However, there is no tapered bearings, so I don't know what difference it would make. Can't find any seal/gasket kit that would have that. And looking at the picture of my t-case in pieces on the floor, all I see is RTV on the rear bearing retainer. Can't recall there being any kind of shim.
the gasket goes here. I’m not sure what if any difference it makes, but I don’t want that little bit of space to cause a complete failure of the transfer case.
