Not all of them. If they have Naphtha in them, yes. The more eco friendly ones don't do diddly.

Slap that box up to your nose and sniff.
How long do those fabric softener sheets tend to last under the hood to repel mice/rats, especially if the car is parked?

Not sure if the ones used had Naphtha but check out some of the videos from this guy. I watched a bunch of them! Somewhere there is a video of those sonic rodent repellents not doing squat either.

Well, I guess those dryer sheets or mothballs don't really work to repel mice as advertised, according to these tests & videos..

I change them every couple of weeks. Under the hood, they sort of work but the air flow makes it hard to keep mice out. I also scatter cayenne pepper around in spots where they may transit a lot.

If you look at one of the other videos there is a product that seemed to work. Don't know how well it would work outside like in the engine compartment. I was also thinking about a cat, That would be the best one.

A cat does work well, unless the mice are multiplying quickly, then the poor cat can't keep up..

Get more cats.

Although, when I first moved here, the yard had been horribly neglected, and there were piles of 'stuff' everywhere..... I had a MASSIVE population of mice..... But, I had two dogs as well..... They would happily spend hours outside, chasing (and eating...) mice. within a couple weeks, there wasn't a mouse to be found outside. Inside, however, the cats were serious slackers. They would play with 'em for a while, get bored, let 'em go, and then find 'em again later..... My dogs were better mousers.
