Default Second gen cargo light

Hey guys, I just bought a 1998 Dodge ram 1500 extended cab short bed. The previous owner. A set of LED brake lights for it that included a cargo light and the cargo light will not shut off as well as the dome lights in the cab. I've been trying to research this issue but I've come up to dead ends and was wondering if anyone has solved it

Might want to check the headlight switch and it's wiring. I believe the cargo light is controlled by the headlight switch.

Would replacing the switch work? My first gen had some issues with the lights not working and I replaced the switch and it was fine after

The headlight switch and it's associated wiring harness are quite famous for issues. It's fairly easy to pull the switch and wiring harness to check those items to see if that's where the issue lies. Can't say for sure that will fix your problem, but that's the 1st place I'd check..

When I first read your post, I missed the part about the lights being LED. Do you happen to have the OEM cargo/3rd brake light? If so, can you try installing it to see if it operates as it should?

I believe there was another post here that had the same problem. I think it was an issue with the 3rd brake light.

if my instrument light dimmer is all the way up , my bed light will not shut off.
On a side point i upgraded the bed light to a LED group light. and its SOOO much better.
If i recall i think i had to add some sort on inline resistor pack that was part of the kit
