TV Cable questions
So my transmission went in ok and seems to drive well but shifts a bit early. I was thinking maybe TV cable but thats one aspect of the truck ive never fully understood.
I do notice that the truck seems to need a bit more throttle to get moving from a stop but i think i have a brake line issue that may be causing that.
As it sits the truck shifts 1st to 2nd somewhere between 20kph - 30kph but usually closer to 20 pr even slightly under. 3rd shift seems ok.
So what symptoms could i look for that my TV cable isnt right? (I had thought it needed to be replaced because the end broke but i rigged it to be functional. Or so i thought....)

Early or late shifting can be caused by a mis-adjusted TV cable. Replacement TV cables are available. The service manual (available for your year truck on this site) and YouTube videos are available to show the proper adjustment procedure.
Im aware that shift timing can be a TV issue but apparently fast/early shifts were a common enough complaint to generate a tsb over. So im not sure which im looking at.
While i run a mobile service truck, nobody rebuilds passenger transmissions in walmart parking lots so i have niether the experience or gauges to do a proper test procedure involving pressures and etc.
Also, i havent been able to find a TV cable yet from napa, lordco or Chrysler.
Id rather not risk damaging this transmission if possible.
Feel free to try to adjust the TV cable. Not sure how you grafted your damaged TV cable back together, but can't hurt a thing doing this -
The TV cable is pretty easy to replace, if needed. You can find the part number in the parts manual via download for your year truck here - https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...s-manuals.html
Once you have the Mopar part number, you can typically find the part via a Google search.

Its been a while so kinda foggy but i think the plastic lip broke so the cable would just fall off. I either plastic welded some material back on or filed out a new seat with what was left. I got a clip from a jeep that disconnects from the cable for service but havent seen it in a while. I was looking at it and couldn't tell what i did but its obviously goobbered. Lol
Another thing i wasnt too sure of is routing and securement. Does it need to be anchored? My old transmission had no mounts and all the cables/wires were just kinda loose. On bicycle applications you can get a fair bit of flex from unsecured cables so im thinking maybe its supposed to tie into one of the clips on top of tranny.
Dont think my pdf covers either.
I usually dont cheap out on truck but ive basically been living in a forest since covid started and not in a particularly wealthy region so income has been pretty dismal. I think the tv hack happened at beginning of covid and i got the end off an abandoned jeep in a dump. Lol

2 years ago I replaced the transmission on my 99 ram and the TV lever was missing from the trans I installed.. after I got it all together and test drove it.. it was obviously wrong and was going through the gears straight to 4th and I parked the truck and been searching for how to adjust it correctly. I searched and searched on and off for almost 3 years now.. I haven't seen anyone explain the way it works until now and I am for sure going to get under it and adjust it correctly whenever I take the kids to daycare in the morning. The pan is already off.. been off and the trucks been up in the air under my carport for a long time.. only thing is . Would the moisture from the air cause any issues for me since it has been exposed for so long?

Couldnt hurt to change the fluid but the transmission i installed was sitting in a driveay under tarp in a snowy area for years apparently and it seems to drive fine. I did put all new synthetic in. I think its a crap-shoot. I was pretty nervous about it.
Also, your TV lever has a little pull-back spring that is important.
