Default Sony XS-R 6946 in 96 dodge ram 1500

Hello, I was just wondering if anyone had ever put the sony XS-R speakers in their Dodge, because I tried, and they aren’t working. Any tech tips or help would be great, Thank you!

Did the old speakers work? They are no different than any other speaker so if they are hooked up they should work.

They worked fine, and then I put on one new one, and it doesn’t even make a sound

Do you have the infinity sound system in your truck?

There is likely some additional wiring for the speakers that you won't be using then.... Front speakers should have had amps on them? Amp for the rears is stashed elsewhere, I think.... I believe the infinity system outputs from the head unit are pre-amp outs.... not line out... But, as you replaced the head unit... hard tellin' what outputs are going where at this point.

only important part is in bold

Not sure if applies to the 1996, but did you have an amplifier mounted on your OEM front speaker? I think to turn it on you need the power antenna wire connected to your receiver even if you dont have a power antenna.
Anywho... Now that the speakers are gone...
It's best to just run new speaker wire to your speakers because with the amp-on-speaker design, the wiring isn't straightforward. You will be one less headache just running new wire.
plus the stock wire is thin

Myself, I have speakers ordered from crutchfield. I went with 6 1/2" w/adapter plate because I don't exactly want the extra bass in the door. Also have 80mm deadening ordered for the door skins, speaker enclosures to protect from rain, and already have a set of pre-cut tint as I'm going to do all at once. Pull the glass and do tint inside so wind and door edges don't ruin another pre-cut set. Just finished with my double DIN conversion and now got 7" screen. Nav and bluetooth and more to bring her into the 21st century. Haven't mounted/wired up the dashcam and backup cam
