Default Can I mate a 10 speed manual to a 5.9 magnum

I’ve seen where one guy mated a 10 speed manual to a 12 valve and I was wondering if there is any way I could mate the same or a similar trans to the 5.9 magnum (360 ci). If so if anyone has any tips on how to do and where to get the parts and what rear diff could handle that it would be much appreciated.

Which 10 speed? The fun part would be, controlling it..... I have seen adapters and controllers to put just about any trans, anywhere, but, they are generally in the thousands of dollars, and that does NOT include the cost of the trans.....

Oh, manual trans. Scratch the controller stuff, don't need it.

That feller is HUGHE, and likely weighs a ton. They are also synchronized.... so, double clutch when shifting..... Would need an adapter from engine to trans, and finding a clutch that would work might be problematic... Even getting it to fit in the trans tunnel might be a problem....

that’s what I was worried about mostly cutting stuff up to fit a trans, what about maybe mating a 6 speed to it, that seems more in the realm of possibility

That should be doable, as the newer cummins trucks actually came with the NV5600..... Still need an adapter of some sort. Don't know if you could just use the bellhousing from an NV4500.... that would make life MUCH easier. Direct bolt-in.

2 or 4 wheel drive?

If it's synchronized, you don't need to double clutch. Non-synchro transmissions do need double clutching. I drove many a non-synchro transmission back in the day. Now, OTR trucks even have automatics. In high school, I drove a '61 Valiant that first wasn't synchronized but the rest of the gears were. With that heavy clutch, I would let the clutch out at lights and then slip it into second to stop the gears from spinning then go to first.

Think that's gonna exclude the road ranger trans, as I doubt you would be able to adapt your t-case to it.

The COOLEST one I'd seen was in a older Jeep pickup. But to do it you'd have run a divorce mounted Np203 or NP205 t-case.
