How many miles on it?

I think you are going to need to go back into the pan, pull a couple bearing caps, and measure some clearances. Plastigauge is going to be your friend.

it’s got 210k miles on it . Are you talking about the camshaft bearings?

Crank and rod bearings.

If you could drop the pan without pulling it, yep.

i can certainly do that ! Already had to do it twice through all this. Hoping it’s as easy as just replacing the bearings. Shouldn’t need machining right?

Depends on what it looks like once you get inside. If the journals are scored.... gonna have to address that.

I would be REAL tempted to put a mechanical gauge on that, and see what oil pressure is REALLY doing. 8 PSI is too low for my tastes..... and I think the front timing covers are getting rather hard to find for these engines. (where the oil pump resides....) So, if you trash it, gonna be expensive to fix.
My 2001 Dodge 2500 8.0L V10 does what you are saying in this "when it drops at idle, give it gas , jumps right back up" that's my exact symptom of mine anyone know the fix? just replaced sensor, pump, timing chain & timed, also timing cover is good. also replaced all plugs, coils, gaskets. but it'll run strong all day if you were on the interstate but stop and go traffic and any stop/turns "Check Gauges" illuminates , with chime, and dings, and oil pressure goes straight to 0. Soon as you turn and accelerate or like you say little bit of gas goes right to normal. stumped lol.

The op was told to put on a mechanical gauge to see what the readings are. To date it seems he has not done that. He hasn't been back since his last post in June. You or anybody that has pressure issues need to verify what the pressure is with a mechanical gauge. Type of oil and temperature also have to be taken in to consideration.

sounds good I’ll put a gauge on it today. Just a regular hose threaded one like you would with most pressure testing with vacuum and fuel lines? Attach where exactly ? New to the V10s but haven’t even really got under the hood yet buddy rebuild all of what was mentioned and said he didn’t notice it happening but if he drove 45 minutes to bring it to me and me only going on these 15-20 min trips noticing it every single time he had to have noticed it
