Default 97 harness on a 94????

What's the difference between the two years 1994 n a 1997?
I do know the EGR valve was eliminated, not sure how to go about that?? Do I just not hook it up, do I remove it, or do I wire it up somehow?
I also know that the trans is a 46rh and a 46re I know the difference in the two n this is my reasoning for wanting to just put the 97 harness on my truck is because the previous owners put the 46re on the truck and I can't find the correct trans anywhere near me in a reasonable price... Anyone have any type of help with this? I do have a ECM for the 97 n the harness to go to the trans but will all of the rest of the motor and transmission connect properly? Someone please help me out here

EGR was eliminated after '95, I believe. '97 has no provision for an EGR. If all of the sensors on the intake manifold are in the same place as the '94, the swap should be pretty straight forward. You should be able to disregard the EGR and not connect it up at all, as there will be no electrical provisions with the '97 harness. As you mentioned, you will need to use the '97 PCM, too.

OK so once I do this the firing order and everything else should be the same correct? I'm only asking bc someone else said something about the distributor on my 94 and the 97 having straight coil packs. But I'm pretty sure the rest of the plugs and sensors are the same I might need to change the connectors out but that's it

You may have to repin some stuff for the instrument cluster, and also add the part of the harness for the diagnostic port in the cab, but, aside from that, there just aren't that many differences..... The 97 PCM will want an O2 sensor after the cat as well. I don't think the 95 has one??

The instrument cluster and dash harness is already out of the 97 that's the whole reason I accidentally got the harness to begin with. I'm finding out that my error is really about to be in my favor here... The truck only has one o2 sensor on it tho bc there's no cats anymore. I was thinking of taking all the I think it's 4 total O2 sensor and hooking them up to the only one on the truck...

My biggest concern was if the way the motor is designed to work was different in any way other than the EGR situation. Also what is the best way to go about the EGR situation..
This is pretty effing awesome that my error in getting the wrong harness and ECM is infact about to pay off... Thank you fellas I appreciate you more than you know

The firing order doesn't change and the trucks use a single coil on 5.2 and 5.9 engines used in the 2nd gen trucks.

did 96 switch to the single coolant temp sensor? No big deal just plug the extra hole and use a 96+ temp sensor

The switch to a single temp sensor happened in 98. 96-97 will still have two.
