Been noticing lately that my steering wheel is very noisy, when turning the wheel real quick especially while adjusting and backing into a spot. It sounds like a bearing kinda grinding or dry almost, and it seems like it might be where the back of the steering wheel meets the column cover, or somewhere near there. Has anyone figured out the source of this noise and where it is, along with a fix? Thanks
gotcha. Yeah it definitely sounds like a bearing. It’s a pretty clear metal on metal sound.
I don't know if steering column parts are even available individually..... Check out Mopar Parts Giant. They have pretty good diagrams, hopefully will show what you are likely to need.
I had a similar noise and I sprayed the joints on the column. Turns out it was lower ball joints. Saw a youtube video about spraying the ball joints and the noise went away. Replaced ball joints.
