Dash rattle at 2300 RPM?
Anybody ever have this problem?
I have a dash rattle that only shows up at ~2300 rpm while speed is increasing. It goes away at ~2500 rpm and lasts for only about a 200-300 rpm window. I think it is somewhere in the area behind the radio.
I've heard about the underhood weld crack problem. I don't believe that this is the case here.
I'm just trying to avoid:
1. Pulling the whole dash apart for a rattle (though I might if it becomes annoying enough).
2. Trying to troubleshoot the rattle at 2300 rpm/50 mph with my head under the dash
Any ideas?

DO #2!!! lol, if you pop the molding out around the steering radio heat,ac controls etc then take the radio out u can get back to some of the things in the dash i think
Since I last visited this post I have more info. I was driving with the window down and noticed the noise was actually coming from the middle front area of the vehicle. It also happens if vehicle is under load, as when starting up in too high a gear. Any ideas?
Found it! With the help of a friend found the heat shield rattling. It is on the right side of the engine between the exhaust and the starter. Didn't even have to remove it, just tweaked it a little. No more noise.
Now if I could just get rid of that clunking!
